UDC were awarded the work of Hotel Sahara Star after winning a limited design competition held in 2002-03. Indian as well as international architectural firms had participated in the competition and presented their design concepts.

The clients had acquired the erstwhile Hotel Airport Centaur managed by Hotel Corporation of India and wanted to transform it into a landmark property as their flagship venture in the hospitality business.
