UDC is a design practice working in the domain of 'Built Environment Design', which extends the scope of a conventional Architecture Design practice beyond Space Planning to 'design for meaningful experiences in a particular space' for the inhabitants of the built environment.
REPRESENTATIVE RECENT WORK
ADMINISTRATIVE FACILITY FOR A WOOD PROCESSING FACTORY NEAR AHMEDABAD, INDIA
Founded in 1981, UDC has worked on a diverse range of architectural works of various scales, typologies (Hospitality, Residential, Health-care, Commercial, Institutional, Industrial, Religious, Recreational, Neighborhood & Township Planning projects) and in various contexts across India and in the Middle East Asia. We have participated in several invited Architecture Design competitions and have been awarded many Architecture projects as winners of Architecture Design competitions based on design merit. Over the years, we have acquired significant experience and gained an in-depth understanding in our area of work.
Yet, each new work begins with intense exploration including studying the contexts, the complexities and the correlations between various aspects influencing Architecture that lead to formulation of creative design concepts.
NASSCOM HEADQUARTERS & INCUBATION CENTRE AT GURGAON (NEW DELHI), INDIA - INVITED COMPETITION ENTRY
The objective of our practice is to create thoughtfully designed built environments that come into being in the realm of evocative spaces organised within appropriately designed and meticulously detailed built forms.
CONVENTION CENTRE, HIGH STREET SHOPPING & HOTEL FOR SAHARA INDIA
Our design process as Architects, involves exploration of the relationships that the 'building' would share with its contexts and the spatiotemporal relationships that the inhabitants would develop with the built environment.
What matters the most to us is 'how people inhabiting in a built environment experience a sense of well-being and the pleasure of being in it'.
