Small Local Organic Works Studio

SLOW Studio engages in smaller works, which share an intimate relation with the place where they are built. The studio's work is focused on the ephemeral quality of our natural environment rather than on 'permanence'.

Methodology of work:

The studio operates with an informal design process that goes hand-in-hand with the building process as an interaction between the designer and the builders. Entire building process is based on intuitive on-site decisions along with sketches, samples, prototypes & mock-ups made at site.

SLOW Studio's work is guided by concepts of spacemaking in the traditional vernacular architecture of that region. It involves usage of materials that are sourced locally and techniques of construction that are known locally.

The studio prefers to work with local builders - craftsmen and artisans, who are well acquainted with the skills of their craft. Where appropriate skill level in a particular craft isn't available locally, the studio insists on working with traditional craftsmen and artisans from other areas.
